Course Details
Summary:
Learn about epidemiological methods with our introductory course, which focuses on exposures and outcomes, and experimental and observational study designs. No prior experience with epidemiological methods necessary!
Where: Courses will be held over zoom and in-person.

Course Format: Lectures are pre-recorded and hands-on exercises and group discussion will take place during in-person but can also be viewed via Zoom.
No prior experience with epidemiological methods is needed!
Objectives & Goals:
- Learn how to define epidemiology, explain the role epidemiology plays in public health and gain an understanding of real world applications of epidemiological studies.
- Interpret the meaning and application of measurements such as prevalence, incidence, relative risk and odds ratio.
- Gain a basic understanding of different types of epidemiological study design and methods that are most appropriate given the research question.
- Understand the biases associated with different study designs and learn how to maximize validity and reliability within your study.
**Special Promotion**
Upon completion of the workshop, students will have the option to schedule one half hour of complementary consulting for their individual projects with a member of ITE. ITE staff or faculty can help with a variety of topics, including study design or analysis considerations. Additional consulting for clinical projects will be available at a discounted rate.
